In order to print going forward, you must install a single "virtual" printer that will communicate to all our new printers on campus.

How to Add the Printer:

To do so, simply copy & paste the following line into your CU-issued Windows 10 PC search box at the bottom-left of your screen, then click "Open":

\\printer-monitor\follow me printing

This will install the virtual printer onto your machine. After, you'll be greeted with the print queue. From here, please click "Printer", then "Set As Default Printer" and confirm the selection.

That's all that is needed! You may now close the print queue window. (Additionally, you can delete any old printers from your PC, as they will no longer be used by Carolina University)

Next time you wish to print a document, the selected printer name should be listed as "\\printer-monitor\Follow Me Printing" since it should be your default. If not, select that printer name.

Please note, all our new printers print in color, but the default is set to Black & White 2-sided. To change this, before sending the print job, click "Properties" and "Select Color" to confirm it will print in color.

How to Release a Print Job to any Printer:

When you select to "Print" something, your print job will be held in a virtual queue. To "release" it and collect your printed paper, walk over to any of the new printers and scan your Carolina University ID badge on the printer itself over the card symbol.

On the first time ever doing this, the printer will prompt you to activate your ID badge with the PaperCut system. Click "Yes" and log in with your Windows 10 credentials, using only the prefix. Ex.: John Smith would be "smithj" and he'd enter the password that unlocks his computer.

Once your ID card is activated, you may scan it again to bring up your virtual print queue. Click "Print Release", then you'll see the title of the document you sent. Select it, and tap "Print". And that's it! For a quick video of this process, please click here.
