Carolina University has now implemented an MFA requirement for all users at MyCU.

MFA adds an extra layer of security to help protect your online accounts and helps to protect Students, Faculty, and Staff from hacking, phishing, intrusions and data leaks.   Users users can feel more confident about the security of their information and the steady improvements of securing peripheral services associated with their CU credentials. Some users may experience initial challenges with getting used to an MFA requirement but will undoubtedly become fast learners.

Initial authentication method setup within the MyCU portal, Users will be prompted to setup a call or (SMS) text to their mobile cell phone as the initial default authentication process when logging into the portal.   On receiving & verifying the call/text then the authentication will be setup & completed for you to complete MFA authorization into the portal.

See below screens you will see on first login to MyCU portal and initial setup of MFA.

To modify an authentication method or add additional login verification methods, you may do so at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info following a successful login. Once there, users may wish to add an alternate email, Microsoft Authenticator, or a YubiKey and set those as default methods in order to lessen the number of texts sent to a mobile device. Users may also set a phone call for authentication. In short, there are a number of ways that users can implement MFA in their unique environment.

If you are unable to access your account but can provide identity verification details, please contact support@carolinau.edu with that information, along with the new number or alternate email address you would like set up. Once we update that information, you will be able to log in and update your methods to include alternative methods such as the Microsoft Authenticator app or a USB key.
