There are Four Assignment Formats in eLearning: Online Test, File Upload, Forum, and Basic. These options are presented when you click on Add an Assignment in the Coursework area. You will be unable to add an assignment in a unit that has already expired.
The Online Test format is designed to accommodate you in the creation of quizzes and tests that may vary in overall value and numbers of questions. Use this format to administer any online test that is not housed in a third-party service provide like McGraw-Hill, Cengage, Pearson, etc.
The File Upload format should be used if you want a student to submit any type of file for a grade except for written assignments.
The Forum format should be utilized if you are assigning a discussion forum. This will link the student directly to the discussion forum for that specific unit assignment.
The Basic format should be used for everything else, including learning tool interoperability (LTI) integration.
- For written assignments, PIU utilizes Turnitin Feedback Studio, a third-party LTI that provides a plagiarism checker and grading mechanism to assist you in providing timely substantive feedback inside of the eLearning platform. Turnitin assists you in safeguarding academic integrity and provides you with a means to grade student work with an extensive collection of rubrics and feedback quickmarks to make your job easier.
- Jenzabar's eLearning platform is scheduling an LTI v1.3 interoperability standard in 2020 to facilitate deep linking for assignments. If you plan to use McGraw-Hill, Cengage, Pearson, GoReact, Zoom, or other LTI, you should use the Basic format in order to provide a grading column for grade assignment. In some cases, deep linking for grades may already function in eLearning. Otherwise, you will need to add the assignment in eLearning and add the grade manually once they complete the assignment in the third-party platform.
- Additional items, such as reading a document or viewing a required video, should also be assigned by using the Basic format.
