Once you are in your course context, you should arrive at the overview page by default (this can be changed in context manager). On the overview page, you will find course-specific information as well as unit-specific information.

The course-specific information will be at the top of the page and include Next Event and Latest News. Students will also see Course Status and Next Due Date in this section. The Course Status will show the student their grading information and any attendance markings for your course. The Next Due Date will automatically reveal the next assignment due in your class.

To expand or collapse this section, click the triangle-shaped button next to the words “Course Overview”.

Below this section, you will find information related to a specific unit. The information below the line, “Unit in detail” provides the information related to the unit displayed in the drop-down menu under the unit name. You may navigate to different units by clicking on and selecting a different unit from the drop-down menu or by clicking the green left or right arrows to move to an adjacent unit.

The items below the name of the unit may include “Resources”, “Coursework”, “Calendar”, and “News & Discussions”. These may appear in a different order, depending how you would like these to be set up.

  • Resources will include any handouts or bookmarks that are specific to this unit. You may either select a resource from this overview section, or navigate to the resources section using the menu in the course context to view and access them from there.

  • Coursework will display assignments give during the time parameters of the unit you are currently viewing. You may click on the name of the assignment to complete that assignment, or navigate to the coursework section using the menu in the course context.

  • Calendar includes the assimilated information from assignments or events scheduled in the course from your professor. If an item appears in italics, it means the event or assignment is in the past. Regular font signifies that it is still forthcoming. Just like with Resources and Coursework, you can also navigate to the Course Calendar by following the link in the course context.

  • News & Discussions is a combination of course announcements (posted in News & Announcements) and posts in the Discussion Forum area. The most recent posts to either of those areas will display here.

To reorder or manage the options, click "Admin this portlet" at the top of the overview window.
